Fire in me...cont.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper "A Theory of Human Motivation". Maslow subsequently extended the idea to include his observations of humans' innate curiosity.
As the above diagram clearly depicts our behavioral priorities, our perceptions constantly change perhaps due to taste and fashion, but the principles of human psychology are as constant and as ageless as the sun.

There is no magic, its just a bunch of tricks, except we move into a more complicated realm, as we are undoubtedly humans, which of course have a price.
The moment we start to own up to our faults and tell ourselves the truth and embrace it, then we'll begin to see in a new light. Little wonder we constantly look up to the white folk as "Semi-gods" because they seem to be more realistic, well, perhaps not necessarily because they want to, but because they have to abide by the laws which govern the earth.
If we unconsciously follow their models in governing ourselves, then maybe we should go all the way, instead of constantly criticizing people that consistently upgrade themselves and letting our fears and insecurity turn us into an embodiment of stigmatization.

Back to our hierarchy of needs, the eco system has been grossly altered and the principles have been violated, meaning we have to pay the price, but we will continue to play the blame game unless we understand ourselves, forgive and allow the opportunity of the benefit of doubt.
When people we regard are given an opportunity to serve us and represent our interests forget who they are and become grossly insensitive, so much as to not only betray our trust, but also compromise their reverred positions and abuse office by misplacing priorities and siphoning funds at the expense of projects that can salvage human lives, then there is fire on the mountain. I've been to the mountain, thus i brought some of the fire with me.

MY HEART BURNS, THEREFORE THERE'S FIRE IN ME...

I hate to sound like a hypocrite, even though i am very obviously probably one, come on, its a "why me or why not" position we all are in. Especially due to the fact that we are products of our environment, well...our environment being subjective to the degree to which we make ourselves vulnerable to the default, or our deliberate attempt to create a design.

I intend however to describe my immediate environment and geographical location as it is from my perspective. We are a group of helpless individuals that are desperately seeking survival, we do not know which way to go, which is not a bad thing. The problem we seek to encounter is how we act when we discover how much of animals we have become while desperate to climb the ladder of the principle based "hierarchy of needs"...(To be continued)

CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA! DO WE EVEN KNOW WHAT IT MEANS?

The August 1995 conference on Ethics in Government held in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state Nigeria organized by the Civil Liberties Organization, presented a paper which described corruption as "a global phenomenon, intelligible only in its social context. It can be defined as anti‐social behaviour conferring improper benefits contrary to legal and moral norms, and which undermines the authorities’ capacity to secure the welfare of all citizens".
Hmm, i'd say that is just a stereotypical statement, in as much as the described principle is true. In the Nigerian context, corruption has taken a somewhat peculiar turn. Bribery, fraud, embezzlement, favoritism, extortion and nepotism are forms of corruption thrive depending on the degree of provision of opportunity for the citizenry and the quality of every single nucleus family.
A child that has the privilege of good infrastructure such as power, good roads, quality health care and education and a shot at greatness will most probably not be liable to the dangerous fangs of "corruption".
A child however who realizes that there apparently isn't any future for him grows up to be an insecure and unpatriotic citizen that knows he can bribe himself out of a weak judiciary system after committing fraud, embezzlement or extortion.
Interestingly, Nigerians know the truth of the processes of every monetary dealings performed, but there consistently appears to be element of lies, hypocrisy, laziness and lack of creativity and knowledge on how to tackle the issue.
The principles of systems which clearly emphasizes multiple causes and effect helps us understand that there is no smoke without fire, meaning issues that eventually rear a head are usually a multiplier effect.
The CEO of Lloyd Anderson in person of Olalekan Olashore in 2009 did a presentation on "ownership culture" which gives a broad perspective in this regard, the moment an employee treats his job or a business as his, then he goes all out on making it up, running and profitable without stealing from it.

The Pareto principle also applies as it states the 80 / 20 rule where 20% have leadership potential and while the remaining 80% are basically seeking direction  The case study for this scenario seeks to personify the private sector actors as the 20%, which is why it is only right to effectively privatize government parastatals that have been reduced to mere shadows. This will definitely keep workers on their toes, increase creativity and help upgrade accountability.

A TRIBUTE TO A PEN WARRIOR...

When things are no longer at ease, even for the ants of the anthill at the sahara, there is a very high tendency that things will surely fall apart and of course the center actually will not hold.
The unquestionable literary prowess and the originality of the story telling ability of Chinua Achebe has undoubtedly earned him a place in the hall of fame in our hearts. A gentle and wise man that had rage in his mind, but only showed it through words, courting values, being an exemplary model not only to up-coming writers, but also to youths that express volatility at any instance of anger. Though justified to be angry, but not to hold the city to ransom with violence.
A great pride for Africa who wrote a fantastic book that has been translated to over fifty languages, and yet he did not let it get to his head, that is a rare feat indeed.
Funny, there are many Chinua Achebes out there, if you have a lot of anger brewing in your mind and you do not want to create violence, rather you seek constructive ways to pass your grievances across, then you have a fraction of him within you. Please don't let it die, share your pains with the wise, then write them down in anyway you can so far you allay them passionately unto the hearts of men.
The death of an old and wise man is like a burning library.

A TAKE ON DIRECTION...

We are actually all ordinary people seeking to find which way to go, a path that will lead us to our pot of gold, golden fleece or whatever you may want to call it.
There are however amongst us somewhat extra-ordinary people that have vision and charisma that personify them as leaders. This is a standing principle, but as the saying goes "stagnant water stinks", it means that we have to keep moving forward. This expands the big picture, extending our perspectives beyond the borders of the box in such a way that everyone comes into the scene like every letter of the alphabet.
With unison, everyone's role comes to play. Philosophers, Thinkers, Researchers, Diplomats, Astronomers and the likes of great individuals that help to constructively shape the future made laudable discoveries and designs as documented strategies on human adaptation upon planet earth.
Doctors sprung up to help our health, so did Architects to design master piece buildings, then Philosophers to shape our thought perspectives, Agriculturists to save us from hunger, Lawyers to enlighten us about our rights and defend us with the constitution not to make little.

As these developments further enlighten us, the world shapes into better perspective with the help of critics, violence, natural disasters, diseases, inventions, mysteries, rhythm and so much more, so much so that the world at some stages seem perfect after-all, but for the constant re-invention of the west.
Basically, the moment the principles have been embraced and we establish short and long term plans on the path we choose, we may very well be on the right track, a proper take on direction...

AMNESTY?...HMM REALLY!!!

GBOAH!!! That's a deafening explosion sound that without warning seeks to blow up my eardrums again. Well, perhaps my ears are grossly irrelevant compared to the hundred that didn't hear the blast, but rather took a straight flight to heaven instead.
Nigeria has finally come to terms with reality by the virtue of the inevitable force of nature and the principles that govern the earth through the psychology of man.
Corruption? hmm, its an understatement and probably the least of our problems, because apart from the fact that it has come to stay, with the rate at which we operate in this country in direct proportion with our attitude towards hypocritically fighting it, we are literally drowned.
Religion? i don't even want to talk about it, Nigeria is an exact replica and unequivocal personification of extremism of sentimentality, cowardice of truth and negatively stereotypical hypocrisy.
Politics? yeah right, we are overly full of our selves, self proclaiming intelligence, when the whole world have moved on with the information that even talent is not enough, skills are to be tested and improved.
The moment we realize these groups of systems, then we realize the very fabric of human existence compise of love, hard work, power of will, finding your voice and helping others find theirs.
So amnesty for faceless terrorists that have not only hurt my father land which they constantly hold to ransom, me no think so...

My oga at the top...

Oh dear! it is quite typical of stereotypical and hypocritical mockery to sack profitable businesses and become the order of the day. There is absolutely no need for the moral justification of this, the answers lay right there in everything we do and our conscience.
I still recommend systems approach as a matter of principle. We still feel far more convenient to point out the speck in the eyes of our neighbour and ignore the one in ours. So much for he without sin to cast the first stone. How many Nigerians can recite the national pledge, talk more the national anthem?...(to be continued)
